Accepting Cards

Card checkout on your storefront uses Stripe. Until Stripe is connected, customers can still request a quote. They cannot pay by card.

Connect Stripe

1. Open Sales & Finance → Sales Configuration → Payments
2. Click Connect with Stripe

The button on Payments is Connect with Stripe, Finish Stripe onboarding, or Replace and reconnect Stripe, depending on where Stripe left off.

3. Finish the form on Stripe's site, then return to PrepStation

You're done when this page says Stripe connected — you can accept card payments.

If it says Stripe onboarding is incomplete, Stripe still needs something. The page lists what's missing. Click Finish Stripe onboarding. If Stripe is only verifying what you already sent, wait and click Re-sync Stripe status.

Stripe hosts the card form and the payout dashboard. PrepStation never asks you to type a customer's card number into the back office.

Turn cards on for the store

Connecting Stripe does not by itself show a pay button.

1. Open Sales & Finance → Sales Configuration → Webstore
2. Select Checkout
3. Turn on Accept card payments

If Stripe isn't ready, a warning under that switch tells you to connect Stripe in Payment settings. Customers keep seeing Email me this quote until the warning is gone.

Choose how much to collect on that same screen. Authorize, manager confirms (preauthorization) places a hold until you click Confirm on the order. Auto-capture on payment charges the card at checkout. See Checkout.

If the connection drops

Payments says Stripe connection lost when Stripe can no longer use the previous account. Card payments stop. An admin clicks Replace and reconnect Stripe and completes onboarding again. Quote checkout keeps working.

Common Questions

Q: Customers still can't pay by card.
A: Check both places. Payments must say you can accept card payments, and Accept card payments must be on under Webstore → Checkout.

Q: Can I go live before Stripe approves me?
A: Yes. Leave cards off and use quotes. Turn Accept card payments on after Stripe shows as connected.

Q: Who receives the money?
A: The Stripe account you connected. Payout timing is Stripe's, not a PrepStation setting.
